Hotel Puntijar is a brand-new, four-star boutique hotel and museum located in Gračani, an elite district of Zagreb, yet just a five-minute drive from the city center.
The hotel's opening is a continuation of the 175-year-old family tradition in hospitality, dedicated to preserving and sharing the authentic spirit of Zagreb with guests and future generations alike.
Designed for lovers of timeless elegance and tradition, the hotel features 35 uniquely decorated accommodations, including two junior suites. The interiors are adorned with carefully restored antique furniture, creating an original and immersive atmosphere. The walls of the hotel are decorated with over 700 paintings, photographs, and original newspaper articles, inviting each guest into a fascinating journey through the history of Zagreb and Croatia.
In addition to its exceptional accommodations, the hotel also offers a conference hall, a charming café, and a dental clinic, providing a distinctive combination of history, comfort, and convenience.

Thank you for visiting our website and for your interest in Hotel Puntijar. Allow me to introduce our hotel and extend a warm invitation to become our guest.
For 175 years, the Puntijar family has cherished a deep passion for hospitality, gastronomy, and tradition. Through the preparation of traditional Croatian dishes, our family has been dedicated to preserving and promoting Zagreb’s rich cultural heritage for generations.
As a member of the fifth generation of the Puntijar family, I inherited this same enthusiasm and love for hospitality. My desire to open a hotel was driven by a commitment to continue our long-standing family tradition while also honoring the historical legacy of Zagreb.
The roots of the Puntijar family are deeply intertwined with the history of Zagreb. The earliest recorded mention of the Puntijar surname (Lovro Puntijar) dates back to 1581. Our family’s hospitality tradition began in 1838, with the opening of the first tavern in Gracani. Over the years, the family’s establishments were located across different parts of the city. In 1920, Gjuro Puntijar built a family home on Gracanska cesta, where, in 1987, the restaurant Stari Puntijar was opened. Since July of last year, just steps away from our beloved restaurant, we proudly welcomed guests to Hotel Puntijar.
Hotel Puntijar offers 35 uniquely designed, spacious rooms, including two Junior Suites, a charming café, and a conference hall accommodating up to 60 guests.
Though the hotel building itself is newly constructed, its interior is a tribute to various artistic and historical periods of Zagreb and Croatia. The carefully selected and restored furniture, along with other artifacts, originate from different parts of Croatia or have been passed down through our family’s heritage. The hotel’s walls showcase over 700 pieces of artwork, photographs, and original newspaper articles, immersing each guest in the rich historical tapestry of Croatia, Zagreb, and the Puntijar family.
No journey through history would be complete without a taste of tradition. Our Gastronomy Museum and the exquisite dishes prepared from original historical recipes in our restaurant Stari Puntijar offer an unforgettable culinary experience, taking each guest on a journey through Croatia’s national cuisine.
Our goal is to provide every guest with a memorable stay in an atmosphere that reflects the essence of old Zagreb while preserving its unique charm for future generations.
